At Cal Water, we are as passionate about investing in our communities as we are about providing safe, reliable, and affordable water service for our customers. As a water provider and community partner, our purpose is to improve the quality of life for our customers and communities. Providing this for our customers requires a unique and proactive commitment to every one of our service areas up and down California.

In 2023, Cal Water made hundreds of contributions totaling more than $1.5 million to a diverse number of non-profits and community-based organizations in each of our service areas across California.

Firefighters, Police and First Responders

$186,000+ in grants to 8 fire departments to supplement life-saving equipment

$80,000 in scholarships to help students attend college, many of whom are the first in their family to be able to pursue higher education

Youth & Community

$10,000 donated to the California’s Highway Patrol’s CHiPs For Kids program around the December holiday season in East Los Angeles.

In The Community

Tap into Learning

For a decade, Cal Water has promoted a water conservation education program that has inspired students all over California. Tap into Learning offers multiple opportunities for students, classrooms and school-based clubs in Cal Water service areas to engage in activities around caring for water.

Season of Service

To make a difference in the communities they serve, Cal Water employees helped kick off Cal Water’s first ever Season of Service in Chico, L.A.’s South Bay, San Jose, and Visalia in the fall of 2023. Employees volunteered in a variety of ways, including working to address hunger and food insecurity, and participated in virtual events as well to support local non-profits.

Cal Water College Scholarship Program

Cal Water has established a scholarship program to assist students residing within its service areas who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice. To date, Cal Water has provided $600,000 in scholarships to students.

Cal Water Firefighter Grant Program

As part of our gratitude for everything our local heroes do, Cal Water has established our Firefighter Grant Program to support and recognize local fire departments. Uniformed fire departments, whether professional or volunteer, that serves at least a portion of one of Cal Water’s service areas in California are eligible for the Firefighter Grant Program.
