As a water provider and community partner, our purpose is to improve the quality of life for our customers and communities. Providing this for our customers requires a unique and proactive commitment to every one of our service areas up and down California.

In 2022, Cal Water made hundreds of contributions totaling more than $1.5 million to a diverse number of non-profits and community-based organizations in each of our service areas across California.

Firefighters, Police and First Responders

$185,000 in grants to 7 fire departments to supplement life-saving equipment


$80,000 in scholarships to help students attend college, many of whom are the first in their family to be able to pursue higher education

Youth & Community

4,000 toys donated to the California’s Highway Patrol’s CHiPs For Kids program around the December holiday season in East Los Angeles.

In The Community

Cal Water Firefighter Grant Program

As part of our gratitude for everything our local heroes do, Cal Water has established our Firefighter Grant Program to support and recognize local fire departments. Uniformed fire departments, whether professional or volunteer, that serves at least a portion of one of Cal Water’s service areas in California are eligible for the Firefighter Grant Program.

Cal Water H20 Challenge Program

The Cal Water H20 Challenge began as a classroom competition in 2014, In 2021, the program expanded to offer multiple options to participate, giving students the unique opportunity to develop a core understanding of environmental principles necessary to becoming science-literate citizens. To date, more than 375 classrooms have participated in the Classroom Challenge.

Cal Water College Scholarship Program

Cal Water has established a scholarship program to assist students residing within its service areas who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice. To date, Cal Water has provided $600,000 in scholarships to students.
